A Mumbai-bound Vistara flight returned to Varanasi after the bird hit MPNRC News

New Delhi: A Mumbai-bound Vistara flight returned to Varanasi after it struck a bird on Friday, the airline said.

In a statement, a spokesperson for the private carrier said: “Vistara flight UK 622 from Varanasi to Mumbai on August 5, 2022 returned to Varanasi due to a bird strike during departure. Another aircraft has been dispatched from Delhi to Varanasi to take the passengers to Mumbai as the aircraft requires maintenance checks. While safety is our top priority, it is our constant endeavor to minimize the inconvenience to our customers in such unavoidable situations.”

Sources close to the news agency PTI Vistara’s flight UK622 was en route to Mumbai on Friday when it struck a bird, damaging its radome. The plane returned to Varanasi, saying it had been grounded.

This is the second incident in the country in two days.

A Chandigarh-bound GoFirst flight returned to Ahmedabad on Thursday morning after it was struck by a bird shortly after take-off.
