Marathi actress Ketki Chitale, who was arrested over an allegedly derogatory social media post about Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar, is now out on bail, but says she is not sure that her troubles are over. Is. Speaking to CNN-News18, she recalled her ordeal as she spent nearly 40 days behind bars after she shared a poem on Facebook, purportedly written on Pawar, calling him a man who hates Brahmins .

“I look back and think how weird, how unfair our justice system is, I was picked up from my place and put behind bars for copy-pasting someone else’s poem, they were my words too. And is India going to act like this? Isn’t it illegal to pick up someone without any prior notice, without any notice, without an arrest warrant? And it was just a post. It wasn’t even that I was targeting someone. People interpreted it as Mr. Sharad Pawar and they picked me up and 22 FIRs were registered. Whenever I think about it, this is what comes to my mind,” she said .

The actor also alleged that he was thrashed and molested by women NCP activists while he was in police custody.

“I was just picked up, detained. Then custody changed hands. From Kalamboli I was remanded in Thane police custody. And I was beaten up by the NCP women present there. They were a crowd of about 20 people, including journalists. Of course, the journalists did not bother me. But they (NCP workers) threw colors at me. They say it is ink, but it was not ink. It was a poisonous black colour, which is extremely harmful to our skin. They threw that color at me, they threw eggs while in police custody. What were the police doing inside the police premises? It’s illegal, it’s illegal. Not only am I being attacked, harassed, beaten, molested… I have been molested, you know… my pallu fell. I was wearing a sari, my pallu fell down, someone trapped me, hit me, hit my right breast, and when they hit me, I fell in the police car, and so my sari went up, My pallu fell down… and well, I understand you are angry or whatever, but being a woman they are manipulating another woman. Are these the people who should represent us in the future?” he said in the interview.

Cheetale pointed out that his custody kept changing hands, while, he said, it was all over the derogatory remarks made by others under his post.

“After that they take me away and I am in police custody for four days. After this I have been sent to judicial custody for one day. And then the Rabale police come… they pick me up, then they change hands. And my old case, which was registered against me in 2020… March 3…Some young man, he filed an FIR against me, which was a case of atrocity, but I did not write anything atrocious. He had complained on the basis of the comments on that post. And there are three people whose names have been specifically spelled out by the police. But those three people are absconding. Police is saying that they don’t know where these three people are… I was again sent to five days’ police custody.

The actor also asked why the police failed to trace the three people. “What is cybercrime doing? My case has gone into cybercrime, all my gadgets are confiscated, they are searching my gadgets, I am sure they must have mirrored them. If it is at all possible then Can’t our cybercrime unit find out who are these three people who have actually done dastardly things, which I absolutely do not support, do not. Even when I gave my statement to the police, I specifically Clearly, categorically told them that I do not support such comments because they were really, really pathetic,” Chitale said.

The actor also spoke about the detrimental effects the entire experience had on his life and career.

“I will never get back those 41 days of my life, I have lost work, I have lost projects. I don’t know whether I will ever get new projects again in my life because now I have been convicted , ”she said. “Still, I am out on bail. So I can be arrested again. It is not that I am a free man. In the remaining 21 cases that were registered against me, I still have only Interim relief has been granted.

Chitale told CNN-News18 that this is not the first time he has been targeted and trolled on social media since 2017.

He also pointed out that top politicians like Rahul Gandhi, Asaduddin Owaisi etc are speaking in support of fact-checker Mohammad Zubair, who was recently arrested over a previous tweet. “Now we know, who are the zookeepers for this Zubair,” she said.

The actor also said that their fight is not over yet. “Truth prevails in the end. I have suffered and I will not let it go,” she said.
