His long public life, wide experience and deep understanding of people’s issues will definitely benefit the country. Echoing similar sentiments, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said, “Besides serving as the Speaker of the Rajya Sabha, Dhankhar will prove to be an exemplary guardian of the Constitution.” Many opposition leaders congratulated Dhankhar on his election as the Vice President. NCP President Sharad Pawar wished him success in his tenure as Vice President.
Congratulating Dhankhar, DMK supremo and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin said, “Hopefully the ideals enshrined in our constitution will be upheld during your tenure along with strengthening democratic debates in the upper house.” Ashok Gehlot, Congress leader and Chief Minister of Rajasthan, the state to which Dhankhar belongs, said that the people of the state are happy that Dhankhar has become the second Vice President of Rajasthan after Bhairosingh Shekhawat.
