Sources said that another chartered plane with four MLAs from Maharashtra reached the city on Wednesday along with rebel Shiv Sena MLAs. Four MLAs – Chandrakant Patil, Yogesh Kadam, Manjula Gavit and Gulabrao Patil – arrived from Surat in Gujarat in the evening like the MLAs who had come here in the morning along with Maharashtra minister Eknath Shinde.
Sources said that four more MLAs from Maharashtra reached Guwahati by chartered aircraft. They were taken to a hotel in the city where other MLAs are camping.
Gavit and Chandrakant Patil are independent MLAs, while Kadam and Gulabrao Patil are Shiv Sena MLAs. Sources said the four MLAs reached Surat on Wednesday and later took a flight to Guwahati.
Gulabrao Patil is the Minister of Water Supply and Sanitation in the Uddhav Thackeray-led Maharashtra government. He is the second cabinet minister to join Shinde after Horticulture Minister Sandeepal Bhumre. A group of rebel MLAs from Maharashtra, led by Shinde, was sent to Guwahati on Wednesday morning.
He was taken from Mumbai to Surat on Tuesday and shifted to Guwahati early Wednesday. One of the MLAs – Nitin Deshmukh – who had arrived in the morning, left for Nagpur from Guwahati on a chartered flight a few hours later.
Deshmukh later said that he was with Shiv Sena chief Thackeray.
