As Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray pulls out all stops to save his government from a revolt by senior Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde, the BJP is keeping a close watch on the happenings in the state but avoiding open gestures. Is.
The presence of the saffron party at Assam’s Gopinath Bordoloi airport to receive the Shiv Sena rebels and Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s visit to Radisson Blu – and before the rebels’ quick exit – all hint at the BJP’s strategy.
News18 had earlier reported that BJP sources say that the ruling party at the Center considers Assam safe as it is dominated by the BJP and Shiv Sena or Uddhav Thackeray cannot exert any influence in the state. Also, insiders say that the Chief Minister is capable of carrying out the operation smoothly.
However, the “hospitality” of the BJP has not gone down well with the Congress and the TMC, especially in the wake of the Assam floods. Taking a jibe at the BJP, Assam Congress President Bhupen Bora said that at a time when 88 people have died and many are homeless due to floods in the state, the Chief Minister is extending hospitality to the MLAs who want to topple the government in Maharashtra.
Taking to Twitter, TMC said:
No clean drinking water.
No effective management of crisis.
Doesn’t care about people’s problems.
No leader is visible, stand with the people.
Only 40 MLAs from another state. @BJP4Assam is indulging in petty politics with the most insensitive CM @himantabiswa!
On his part, BJP is managing the optics, Sarma has been doing the recce of the flood-affected areas of Naugaon throughout the day.
Speaking to News18, Minister Piyush Hazarika said: “The opposition can say whatever it wants. From morning till evening our Chief Minister and other ministers were with the flood affected people. We welcome those who have come from Maharashtra, but our focus is obviously on the floods.
Party insiders say that BJP is focusing on Assam floods as Operation Maharashtra is secret.
