Miss Universe 2021 Harnaaz Sandhu has revealed how she was once bullied after she gained weight. In a recent interview, Harnaz opened up about it and how she gained weight after winning the competition and decided to take a month-long break from working out.
“Physically I’ve kind of grown up, gained more pounds and put on a weight that I’m completely comfortable with right now. I was bullied for gaining weight,” she told People magazine.
“I was really focused on my goal (during the competition) and I was [not] Thinking about my health. The whole time we were working out, doing lots of activities and after winning, I had almost a month to relax. During that time, I didn’t really work out, and I was just eating and enjoying the time with my family. I never knew it would start showing up on my body,” she added.
Miss Universe 2021 further mentioned that she broke down several times as she was bullied due to her weight gain. “I definitely broke down a lot of times. Sometimes at the most unexpected times. I’m just about to go on stage or something and this whole thing comes to mind. It’s really sad,” she shared.
Meanwhile, Harnaaz will soon make his debut in the entertainment industry with the Punjabi film Bai Ji Kutange. However, on Friday Upasana Singh (who is producing the film) went to court against Sandhu alleging non-compliance with the contract. According to Upasana, Harnaaz wanted 25 days to promote her Punjabi film titled ‘Bai Ji Kutange’, but she was not responding to her messages or emails. She also claimed that the film was initially postponed because Harnaaz could not promote it and now that it is releasing on August 19, Miss Universe is again unavailable.
Harnaaz Sandhu created history by winning the title of Miss Universe 2021. Before her, Lara Dutta won the title in 2000 while Sushmita Sen won the same crown in 1994.
