In this brain teaser, three men of different stature are seen standing. These men standing in the same file are similar in appearance, except their height, what they seem.

An imminent question related to this optical illusion is, “Which figure in the picture do you think will be the tallest measured with a ruler?” The image was shared on a website called Kids Environment Kids Health and has been making netizens heads over the internet since then.

Looking at the image, almost everyone would think that the man standing in the right corner is the tallest. Have you thought the same way? If yes, then you are not wrong because because of the observing mind, the last one looks tallest. Now it’s time to decode the illusion.

The correct answer is that all men are of equal height. Incredible, isn’t it? Well, how well this optical illusion is made. If you look carefully, the lines running in the background are the real trickster here. The width between the lines in the background shrinks as they move from left to right.

The width between the lines on the left is much larger than that on the right. Three identical men, when viewed against a background of lines, appear to be of different heights but in reality this is just an illusion.

The retina is tricked into thinking that the lines you see are perpendicular to your vision but in reality, these lines follow a trapezoidal trajectory. This form of illusion comes under the umbrella of the AIIMS illusion.
