Container bomb explodes in garbage dump, death of 17-year-old boy

Kolkata: A 17-year-old boy was killed when a container bomb exploded in a garbage dump in West Bengal’s North 24 Parganas district on Saturday morning.
The incident took place at Ajmatala behind Rahara police station, about 15 km from Kolkata, they said. He said the bomb was inside a container, when Sheikh Salim took it from his father and threw it on a lamppost, it exploded. Police said Sheikh’s father found the container while cleaning the garbage dump.
“Sheikh was first taken to Barrackpore BN Bose Sub-Divisional Hospital and then to Sagar Dutta Hospital, where he was declared brought dead,” a senior police officer said.
After the incident, panic spread among the local people and a heavy police force was deployed in the area. Police said who planted the bomb is being investigated.
