CWG 2022: India’s sprinter Hima Das fails to qualify for women’s 200m final MPNRC News

Birmingham: Star sprinter Hima Das on Friday missed out on qualifying for the women’s 200m sprint final at the ongoing Commonwealth Games 2022 in Birmingham. India’s Hima Das finished third in the 200 semi-final with a time of 23.42 seconds. Namibia’s Christine Mboma topped with 22.93 seconds while Australia’s Ella Connolly was just one second faster than Hima.

Overall, Hima Das was 10th in 24 semifinals and missed qualifying for the final by 0.02 seconds. The Indian sprinter’s personal best in 200m is 22.88 seconds. The two fastest runners from each round of heats will receive automatic qualification, while the two fastest runners from those not automatically qualified will also advance to the playoffs.

Hima is a former junior world champion and also won a silver medal in the women’s 400m at the 2018 Asian Games. Hima Das will advance in the women’s 4x100m event on Saturday.
