Delhi Boy, who kicked off Milan Fashion Week, reveals how he got his dream job

In a proud moment for the country, several Indian designers, models and influencers were invited to exhibit at the recently concluded prestigious global event Milan and Paris Fashion Weeks. While blogger Masoom Minawala became the first influencer to walk in as a showstopper, Vaishali S became the first Indian female designer to be featured in Milan. Among the many Indian faces at the event this year was a 24-year-old Delhi boy who set the global ramp on fire.

Stepping down the international ramp for Dolce & Gabbana and Giorgio Armani, Saurabh Chowdhary achieved his dream of swagging on the international runway. In a fashion shoot with The Times of India, Saurabh spoke about his journey and experience so far.

Talking about the opportunity to walk for the illustrious Italian fashion house, Saurabh called it his “sheer luck”, and revealed that it was very challenging to crack the selection process, as there were crowds of people queuing up, including There were many big names. Elaborating on how to get into Dolce & Gabbana and Giorgio Armani, the 24-year-old said, “The selection process was really tough. Hundreds of models were standing in the queue for the audition of this show and there were also some big names who were in the queue but could not succeed. I got selected and I will call it my luck.”

Saurabh, who started his modeling career with a Delhi-based agency in 2017, revealed that he was “fascinated by some internationally renowned brands” and added D&G and Giorgio Armani to the list. He feels excited that he brought it into the mainstream despite not having fair skin.

He said, “I am very happy to represent India and very happy that now the designer has started allowing a segment in his show exclusively for brown skin or Indian models.” Saurabh further opened up about an incident that made him “proud” of our country and is gaining international recognition in the fashion world.

He said, “When he (Giorgio Armani) came over for our fitting session, he pointed to me and said ‘Look Indiano’, as if this outfit was specially made for this Indian man standing there. Can’t express how proud I felt that finally, we are getting worldwide recognition.” During her early modeling days, the international model used to go for castings in the national capital, where she was seen by some of the leading names in the fashion world.
