It was a day of celebrations providing contrasting gaiety to party leaders and their workers. At around 9 pm on Wednesday, Justice Krishnan Ramaswamy, in his brief order, allowed the meeting but refrained from barring the EPS group from taking any other fresh proposals, which would ultimately result in a unitary leadership.

The aggrieved group met Chief Justice MN Bhandari and obtained permission to file an appeal against the single judge’s order. The CJ nominated Justices Duraiswamy and Sundar Mohan as judges to hold a special meeting and hear the appeal.

Accordingly, the bench commenced the hearing at the residence of the senior judge at around 1 am and passed its orders around 4 am today, effectively bringing joy and gaiety to the OPS camp.

The internal turmoil of the AIADMK over the single leadership issue, with most district secretaries and others supporting the EPS to handle the EPS, prompted Panneerselvam to write to the former to postpone today’s meeting, There was even speculation that the GC and EC may discuss the matter to influence the unitary leadership.
