Draupadi Murmu reaches Odisha capital from Mayurbhanj, will leave for Delhi on Thursday MPNRC

National Democratic Alliance’s presidential candidate Draupadi Murmu reached here on Wednesday night from her native town of Rairangpur in Mayurbhanj district, covering a distance of about 280 km by road, amid cheers and greetings from locals on the way. She will leave for Delhi on Thursday morning.

Murmu was received by Odisha BJP President Sameer Mohanty and Bhubaneswar MP Aparajita Sarangi at a guest house here, an official said here. “She will leave for Delhi around 9 am on Thursday,” the official told reporters here. The NDA presidential candidate, who was set to visit her alma mater, Unit-II Girls’ High School in the state capital, had to drop the idea, watching the crowds everywhere she went.

The official said she also wanted to visit the Sri Lingaraja temple here, but the plans had to be shelved due to the delay in her arrival. However, Murmu’s school teachers and some lecturers from his college welcomed him at the guest house. Kalyani Mishra, the headmistress of his school, said, “We are proud that our alumnus has been groomed to be the next President of India.”

The former governor of Jharkhand had graduated from Rama Devi Women’s College, which is now a university. Murmu had also worked as a Class III employee in the Irrigation Department of Odisha after completing his graduation.
