Simona Halep could not stop at this year’s Wimbledon as Romanian put on another impressive performance by beating Amanda Anisimova of the United States 6-2, 6-4 in the semifinals on Wednesday. Elena Ryabakina, on the other hand, defeated Ajla Tomljanovic 4-6, 6-2. 6-3 reached the semifinals, where she will face Hale.

The 2019 champion paid fans 17 175 ($ 208) not exactly for the center court ticket price as she beat Anisimova, who was shelled in 63 minutes to reach the third semi-final at the All England Club.

After Halep wrapped up the first set and Anisimova extended the service return, the American player rejected one racket in a row and threw it in her red bag as she trailed 4-1 in the second set for the fourth time.

Halep, 30, broke 5-1 while serving in the match and was down 0-40 when Anisimova tried again 5-3.

But Halep’s legs moved again with a slight slap on her thigh below 15-40, and 16th seed Anisimova won after a long swipe of the backhand.

Meanwhile, Elena Ryabakina of Russian descent became the first player to represent Kazakhstan in reaching the Grand Slam semifinals. The 23-year-old had changed his nationality in 2018, while Russian and Belarusian players were banned from Wimbledon this year after the invasion of Ukraine.

The first set was close, but in the third game, Tomlajanovic broke the deadlock after five overs and won 6-4.

Ryabakina, 23, took a break early in the second and Tommaljanovic’s athletic court coverage allowed her to hit straight back, yet the tall Kazakh broke the love to win the second behind a total of 11 points.

Raibakina, who made 15 more in her Ax Tally 40 in the tournament, increased the pressure in the decisive match, winning seven games in a row to take a 3-0 lead and break 5-1 again.

Although her progress slowed down, she did well and finished the match with an ace.
