Hyderabad, November 09: Our India is an agricultural country. Farming plays a major role in the economy of the country. However, there is no profit in agriculture. Therefore, their attitude is that they want a job, even if it is for a low salary. R Nanda Kishore Reddy from Hyderabad was no exception. After completing his education, he got a job in the IT sector. He worked for three years in an IT company in Hyderabad from 9 am to 5 pm. He was getting a salary of Rs 35,000 per month. However, after working for some time, Reddy realized that his life had come to a standstill. He decided to quit his job and do something different. We have a famous saying, ‘Ichcha Tithe Marg’. Reddy experienced this. After quitting his job, he came across the option of farming and decided to accept it. At present, Reddy is earning millions of rupees a month from his farming.

In March 2020, Reddy came up with the idea of ​​farming. This was due to the lockdown caused by the Corona epidemic. Last year (2020) there was a lockdown across the country. During this time many lost their jobs. Many families suffered. Seeing the situation around him, Reddy made an important decision. He quit his well-paying job in an IT company and decided to go to the village to do ancestral farming.

Speaking to The Better India, Reddy said that when the lockdown was imposed during the Corona epidemic, he saw people buying and storing large quantities of fruits, vegetables and other items. This made him realize the importance of agriculture and he decided to make his future through agriculture. Reddy, who is an IT engineer, had a close relationship with technology. Using these skills in us, they started using new technologies in agriculture. He started organic farming using new technology instead of traditional farming.

Currently Nandkishore Reddy farms with his father. He has two acres of farmland. He has built a polyhouse in an area of ​​one acre. English cucumber and spinach are being grown in his field. He has taken a total production of 30 tons from two acres of land throughout the year. Out of this, the production of cucumber is 24 tons and that of spinach is 6 tons. Cucumbers from Reddy’s farm have been sold at Rs 28 per kg.

Both spinach and English cucumber are ready for harvest within three months. It costs a total of Rs. 5 lakhs for fertilizers, labor, pesticides, polyhouse repairs and yields up to Rs. 10 lakhs. Apart from this, they also grow vegetables like capsicum, green chillies and okra. Now his monthly income has gone up from Rs 35,000 to Rs 3.5 lakh, said Nandkishore Reddy.

The benefit of coming to agriculture

Being from a farming family, I knew a few things about farming. However, quitting IT job and returning to full time farming was not easy. My father and his friend taught me all the farming. “My father taught me at what time to sow and when to harvest,” said Reddy. I have been farming for almost 2 years. “It was beneficial for me to leave the company’s AC and go to the ground,” Reddy said.

Reddy has used various techniques in his farming such as drip irrigation, non-residual sprayings, raised bed system and drip fertigation. Drip fertigation is a very important technology. Fertilizer is mixed with water in drip fertilization. It is then delivered to the crop by dripper. This avoids wastage of water and the plants get the required nutrients along with the water.

R Nand Kishore Reddy has set an example for the youth by quitting a well-paying job in IT and returning to agriculture.
