Final decision on talks with banned TTP will be taken with approval of Parliament as per Constitution: NSC
ISLAMABAD (92 NEWS) – Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Wednesday chaired the meeting of the National Security Committee (NSC) at the PM House.
The meeting was attended by the national and political leadership, parliamentarians and the military leadership.
The meeting was briefed about the overall security situation as well as the steps taken to deal with the threats facing the country at the internal and external levels.
Administrative matters on the Afghanistan border were also apprised in the meeting. It was conveyed that Pakistan has played a responsible and positive role for peace and stability in Afghanistan and will continue its constructive role in this regard. It was expected that Afghanistan would not allow anyone to use its land against Pakistan.
The meeting declared that the world has acknowledged Pakistan’s efforts and sacrifices in the war against terrorism.
The participants were also briefed about the interaction with the banned TTP and the details of the sessions held in this regard. It was told that a committee of civil and military representatives is in talks with the TTP banned under the country’s constitution. The final decision will be with the approval of the Parliament in the light of the Constitution, future guidance and consensus.
