Former Australia fast bowler Glenn McGrath said Rohit’s recent return to form is good news for the Indian team ahead of the Asia Cup and the ICC T20 World Cup later this year.
The Indian captain took a break after the IPL, which allowed him to regain his touch with the bat. Since his return to the national team, he has scored two fifties and led India to victories over England in ODIs and T20Is.
Rohit regaining his form ahead of the Asia Cup is very important for the team, especially with Virat Kohli out of touch and KL Rahul missing the games due to a groin injury post-Covid.

The former Australian fast bowler believes that a quality player like Rohit coming into form is good news for the Indian team.
“This is good news. He is a class player. You want him to do well. Want to see senior players perform well. You saw Shubman Gill get a good score the other day in the West Indies. The batsmen are doing their job in the West Indies,” McGrath told reporters.
Rohit scored an unbeaten 76 against England at the Oval to give India a run-challenge victory. And most recently, he scored 64 runs in the first T20I against West Indies, a match which India comfortably won by 68 runs.
McGrath, who has 563 Test and 381 ODI wickets, said he was impressed by two new Indian fast bowlers, Prasidh Krishna and Avesh Khan, whom he watched closely at the MRF Pace Foundation Academy.
“It was a proud moment to see 29 of our boys and ex-boys play in the recent IPL. Prasidh and Avesh are representing India in limited overs cricket, I’m really proud of them…proud of all the boys,” said the Australian.
