Sagar Preet Hooda, Special Commissioner of Police (Law and Order Division, Zone-II) said that a fire was reported from the residence of BJP President at Motilal Nehru Marg in New Delhi on Tuesday. On inquiry, it was found that around 4.30 pm, around 10-12 people gathered outside the house and raised slogans.
After some time, they turned aggressive and wrapped two khaki shorts on wooden sticks, started fire and threw the burning shorts in the security room at the gate of the house, he said. He said that the staff on duty brought the fire under control.
Police said that a case has been registered in this regard under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code at Tughlaq Road police station and investigation is on. “During investigation, demonstrations were picked up from the spot for scientific examination and the footage of CCTV installed outside the incident site was examined. The footage captured that around 10-12 people came in two vehicles, which were found registered in Rohtak, Haryana and Bijnor, Uttar Pradesh,” said the senior police officer.
“Local intelligence was developed and it was found that the perpetrators were members of the National Students Union of India (NSUI). Several raids were conducted to arrest the people involved in the case and till now four accused have been arrested from different places. Police said an Innova car used by the accused has also been recovered. He said that other accused have also been identified and efforts are on to nab them.
