Haryana: BJP-JJP alliance captured 25 civic bodies MPNRC

Chandigarh: The ruling BJP-JJP alliance has captured 25 of the 46 civic bodies for which elections were held in Haryana recently. Voting was held on Sunday for the post of president in 18 municipal councils and 28 municipal committees in the state.

Congratulating the BJP candidates who won the election, Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar claimed that the victory reflects people’s faith in the party. A senior state election commission official said the BJP won 22 seats, the JJP 3, the Aam Aadmi Party 1, the INLD, 1 while the Independents won 19 seats.

He said that the BJP has got 10 out of 18 seats in the Municipal Council. BJP’s ally JJP won 1, INLD 1 and Independents 6.
State Election Commission secretary Dr Inder Jeet said, “For the post of 28 municipal presidents, BJP won 12, JJP 2, AAP 1 and independents 13.” PTI,

The ruling BJP-JJP, Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) and AAP contested the election on their respective symbol, while the Congress did not contest, although some Congress or party-backed candidates fielded as independents. Commenting on the election results, Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar congratulated all the winning BJP candidates and said that people have once again shown their faith in the policies and programs of the BJP-led government.

“Many congratulations to all the BJP candidates who won the local body elections. This victory of yours is a victory of public trust which is continuously visible towards BJP since 2014 and 2019. This victory is dedicated to the hardworking workers of the party.

Later, while talking to some media persons, Khattar said that he did not think that the Centre’s opposition to the Agneepath plan had any effect on the outcome of the municipal elections. He said that the youth have realized that this scheme is in the interest of them and the country. He said that the top officials of the Armed Forces and the Government have also elaborated on the long-term benefits of this scheme.

Khattar said the BJP-JJP candidates won 12 seats, which fall in the region from where the MLAs belong to the opposition Congress. On the Congress not contesting the election on its party symbol, Khattar said that he ran away from the electoral battle knowing that people would reject him.

Haryana BJP President OP Dhankhar thanked the voters. “People have once again reposed their faith in the programs and policies of both the state and central governments,” Dhankhar said.
