On the auspicious day of Ashtami, Goddess Durga is worshiped and people fast all day to impress the Goddess.

According to the Hindu Vedic calendar, Vikram Samvat, the monthly Durgashtami is celebrated on the eighth day of the monthly Shukla Paksha. In the month of Ashadh, the festival of Durgashtami falls on Thursday, July 07. On the auspicious day of Ashtami, Goddess Durga is worshiped and people fast all day to impress the Goddess. According to religious beliefs, worshiping Goddess Durga on Ashtami removes problems in people’s lives. Mother Durga protects her devotees from adversity.

Durgashtami Vrat: Auspicious Moment

According to the calendar, the eighth day of the month of Ashadh will start on July 6 at 7.48 pm and will continue till July 7 at 7:28 pm. As the sun rises on Ashtami Tithi on 07 July, the fast will be observed on Thursday. . There will be Shubh Abhijit Muhurat on July 07 from 11:58 am to 12:54 pm.

Importance of Durgashtami Vrata

Devotees take blessings of Mother Durga by fasting on this auspicious day every month. It is believed that Maa Adishakti removes the sorrows of her devotees. Practicing Durgashtami brings happiness, prosperity and affluence in the house.

Durgashtami Vrat: Pooja Method

  1. One should start by getting up at the divine moment, taking a bath and wearing clean clothes.
  2. Purify the place of worship by pouring Ganga water.
  3. Place the idol of Goddess Durga on a red cloth and sprinkle a little Ganga water on the idol.
  4. Now light the lamp in front of mother Durga. Offer fruits and sweets along with Akshat, flowers, garlands and vermilion to the Goddess.
  5. Recite Durga Chalisa with incense and lamps and then perform Durga Aarti.
  6. Satvik food should be prepared at home and offered to the Goddess.

  2. एतत्ते वदनम् सौम्यं लोचना त्रयभूषितम्
