Mumbai: On Virat Kohli’s dismal form in IPL 2022, Royal Challengers Bangalore captain Faf du Plessis said, ‘Bad patches’ happen to everyone.
Punjab Kings (PBKS) returned to the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 with a win over Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) by 54 runs at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai on Friday.
After the loss, the RCB captain in a post-match presentation said: “It was a good score, obviously the way Johnny started, put our bowlers under really pressure. I thought we pulled it back a bit. 200 was equal to that wicket, a great wicket. When you are chasing a score like this, you can’t afford to lose wickets in the cluster and unfortunately that’s what happened to us.”
Out-of-form Kohli looked to be in good form against PBKS but again failed to convert a decent start into a big total.
Talking about Kohli’s form, Faf said: “He (Kohli) is seeing the lighter side of it, every single way you can possibly get out is happening to him. This is how the game works. All you can do is keep working hard, work hard and stay positive. He played some good shots tonight, obviously he wants him to go ahead. Bad patches happen to all of us, they’ve got it right.”
With this defeat, RCB have 14 points from 13 matches. They had only one match left against Gujarat Titans, the top team of the tournament, on 19 May.
Will take a day off and then see how we can switch to a game that is more important to us. Another net session isn’t going to make you a better player, it’s about making yourself stronger in mind.
If we play to the best of our ability, we are a very strong side. Unfortunately, we didn’t do that tonight,” said the South African. PBKS currently have 12 points from 12 matches.
