“We will bat first here. If you record here, the teams batting first have done well and the team batting first also suits us. This time I am forced to make changes. Pat is injured, so Umesh comes in and Sam Billings comes in for Sheldon Jackson. We had our ups and downs, so we made a lot of changes. It’s not something we wanted and if you look at the batsmen’s form, we had to make these changes. Shreyas Iyer said after the toss, ‘We started and we started well in the last match both with batting and bowling.’

On the other hand, Sunrisers has made three major changes. T Natarajan and all-rounder Washington Sundar are back in the XI. Marco Janssen is also returning in place of Fazlhaq Farooqui.

“We played on this surface the other day and we were looking to bat as well. Natarajan and Washington are back. Johnson is back for Farooqui too. We haven’t done our best in the last few matches. That’s why we want to reverse it. SRH captain Kane Williamson said, “It’s nice to have some good performers back in the team.”

Here are the playing XI:

Kolkata Knight Riders: Venkatesh Iyer, Ajinkya Rahane, Nitish Rana, Shreyas Iyer (c), Sam Billings (wk), Rinku Singh, Andre Russell, Sunil Narine, Umesh Yadav, Tim Southee, Varun Chakraborty.

Sunrisers Hyderabad: Abhishek Sharma, Kane Williamson (c), Rahul Tripathi, Aiden Markram, Nicholas Pooran (wk), Shashank Singh, Washington Sundar, Marco Janssen, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, T Natarajan, Umran Malik.
