The next step in Liverpool’s quest for an unexpected quadruple of trophies is the FA Cup final against Chelsea. Jurgen Klopp’s side are looking to repeat the League Cup final win over the same London club in February. Winning the oldest tournament in world football since taking over Liverpool in 2015 would complete a set of major trophies for Klopp. After the end of the Premier League, the Champions League final against Real Madrid is yet to take place on 28 May, where Liverpool are three points behind. Manchester City have two games left. Chelsea are almost certain to qualify for the Champions League by finishing third, so winning the FA Cup – after Thomas Tuchel’s side lost to Leicester in last season’s final – would provide a welcome lift. Chelsea have faced weeks of off-field turmoil thanks to their forced sale. An investment group led by Todd Boehly is looking to complete the takeover from approved owner Roman Abramovich. Tuchel has reached every major final since being hired by Chelsea in early 2021, winning the Champions League last season and the Club World Cup in February. The FA Cup Final is celebrating 150 years of the competition’s inception.

Italy

Bottom club Venezia could withdraw themselves even before the start of the evening’s match against Roma. Venezia was put on hold after thrashing Bologna 4-3 last week to end 10 straight losses and register their first win since February. In addition, fellow strugglers Salernitana and Cagliari drew. However, anything other than a loss to Salernitana at Empoli would send Venezia straight back into Serie B ahead of their match in the Italian capital. Salernitana’s win lifts them four points above the relegation zone, which Cagliari and Genoa will not play until Sunday. Spezia can assure itself of safety with a victory in Udinese. Hellas Verona hosts Torino.

Germany:

No more chance. The Bundesliga’s relegation scrap will be decided in the final round, with Hertha Berlin, Stuttgart and Armenia Bielefeld all fighting for survival. The Champions League final qualification spot is also set to take place, while Union Berlin and Cologne are vying for Europa League qualification. Bielefeld is already a second division favorite to join GrĂ¼ther Firth, but it still has a chance of survival if it visits Leipzig, who need a point to reach the Champions League. Stuttgart, in the relegation playoff spot, could still survive and leave Hertha in their place with a win over Cologne when they lost to Borussia Dortmund. Hertha needs a draw just to survive. If Leipzig loses at Bielefeld, Freiburg could enter the Champions League with a win over already qualified Bayer Leverkusen. Union Berlin could secure its place in the Europa League with a home win over Bochum, but Cologne is able to capitalize on any union slip-up by beating Stuttgart – which is fighting for survival.

France

In the final round of the league, the race for second place and an automatic Champions League place is between Marseille and Monaco. Although second-placed Marseille have a three-point lead over third-placed Monaco, they face a tough-looking journey for Rennes, who are battling Nice to enter fourth and the Europa League. Is. Confident Monaco are aiming for nine consecutive wins in host to mid-table Brest and striker Wissam Ben Yedder will be looking to add to his 21 league goals. Nice are home to last season’s champions mid-table Lille, while champions Paris Saint-Germain are at Montpellier. Elsewhere, six-time champions Bordeaux will be relegated if they lose to Lorient at home. Bordeaux has scored the most goals in the league with 89 goals.

Spain

Espanyol hosted Valencia with two rounds remaining with both sides in the middle of Sable. Espanyol will play under caretaker Luis Blanco a day after coach Vicente Moreno was sacked. Neither side is able to reach the European qualification spot. Valencia is 10th and Espanyol 13th.
