New Delhi: Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Wednesday night vacated his official residence in south Mumbai and moved to the family home in suburban Bandra, hours after Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde offered to step down from the top post amid the rebellion.

The crisis in Maharashtra politics intensified after suspicious cross-voting in Monday’s Legislative Council elections, in which the BJP dealt a major blow to the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) coalition government. Soon after the MLC elections, Shinde went out of touch with some other Shiv Sena MLAs on Tuesday.
