It hasn’t been an impressive summer transfer window for Manchester United so far. Players such as Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic have already left the club and there has been no significant development in terms of new signings. Manchester United have missed out on signing Uruguay striker Darwin Nunez and getting the services of Frankie de Jong appears to be an uphill task at present. And amid these developments, Manchester United have suffered another major setback in the ongoing transfer window as 18-year-old Malcolm Ebiowie is set to reject a move from the Red Devils and choose English Premier League club Crystal Palace instead.

According to an article published by The Sun, Crystal Palace have managed to outsmart rival clubs to sign Malcolm, who this time played 16 matches for Derby County under former Manchester United footballer Wayne Rooney in the championship.

Eboiwei reportedly underwent a medical on Monday and it is understood the English footballer has agreed to a contract until 2027.

Abiowei made his Derby debut in February this year and later appeared in 15 more matches for the team. He scored his first senior goal against Blackpool.

The 18-year-old winger has played at youth level for Under 16 for both Netherlands and England at Under 15 level. He is expected to play for the senior division in the future as well.

For Palace, it remains an impressive run of signing young players from the championship. He had participated in Michael Ollis and Eberechi Eze the previous two summers. Attacking midfielder AZ, 23, joined Palace from QPR in 2020 for around £17m. However, an Achilles injury ruined his progress at the Palace. Ollis, on the other hand, signed from Reading last summer for £8 million.

Manchester United are yet to make their first signing under their newly appointed manager Erik ten Haag. The Old Trafford-based club were expected to sign 22-year-old Anthony of Ajax, but the Dutch champions have reportedly raised their demands. Ten Haag is also trying to find a new centre-back to fix defensive issues. English defender Harry Maguire, who had a poor season, is likely to lose the captaincy ahead of the upcoming season.
