ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Finance Minister Miftah Ismail has expressed hope that the IMF bailout package will be extended for a year and the fund will also be increased.
Talking to the media on Wednesday, he said that instead of one billion rupees, there is a possibility of getting two billion rupees and the target will be set soon.
“A consensus has been developed with the IMF on the original targets. There is a possibility of extension in the repayment of the loan,” he said.
He said a consensus has been reached on taxes and deficit targets. “The target for new taxes has been fixed. The bailout package will be extended for one year. The agreement is in the final stages,” he said.
The minister said that the IMF would soon make a formal announcement in this regard.
