Actor Chris Hemsworth, best known for his role as Thor – God of Thunder, has heaped praise on Indian weightlifter, Olympian Mirabai Chanu. In his tweet, Hemsworth called Meerabai a ‘great man’.

Notably, Chanu won the gold medal in the women’s 49 kg category at the Birmingham Commonwealth Games. A social media user quoted Chanu’s tweet and tagged Hemsworth saying, “Time for Thor to drop his hammer Chris Hemsworth.”

The tweet soon went viral on social media as fans and followers praised Hemsworth for Chanu’s remarkable performance at the 2022 Commonwealth Games. There are some reactions to this tweet.

Tokyo Olympics silver medalist Chanu successfully lifted 201 kg to bag a gold medal at the ongoing Commonwealth Games earlier this week. She made a successful start by lifting 88 kg in the snatch competition. Later she lifted 113 kg in clean and jerk. Chanu’s brilliant performance in the snatch competition helped her set a new Commonwealth record.

Meanwhile, Chris Hemsworth was last seen in Thor: Love and Thunder. The much awaited film released on 7th July. Directed by Taika Waititi, the film also stars Tessa Thompson, Natalie Portman and Christian Bale. The film was a sequel to Thor, Thor: The Dark World, Thor: Ragnarok and Avengers: Endgame.
