The elected official points to a difference in treatment in the exemptions granted to the various oyster basins concerning the legal limits of work per week, as well as during Sundays.

The LR deputy of Charente-Maritime Didier Quentin has just called on the Minister of Agriculture and Food, Julien Denormandie, about the situation of oyster farming at this end of year period in the department. “The oyster farmers see their activities increase considerably at the end of the year. Oysters are, indeed, a festive dish. Operators must therefore ask the Regional Directorate for the Economy, Employment, Labor and Solidarity (DREETS) for an exemption authorizing them to have their employees work beyond the legal limits per week, as well as on Sundays. », Reminds the elected minister.

Except that the oyster ponds would not all be housed in the same boat. “It seems that there is a disparity in the granting of such exemptions between the production basins. It is thus reported to me that in Brittany and Normandy the exemptions granted are granted to a maximum of 66 hours per week, whereas they are limited to 60 hours in the Charente-Maritime Basins ”, underlines Didier Quentin who claims the same maximum weekly duration of 66 hours for all.

Constraints

In addition, “starting from the fact that certain professionals have problems for the shipment of oysters, because of the heavy constraints linked to the methods of recording export certificates”, the elected representative asks for a dematerialization of this procedure.

The Minister replied that this exemptions file, “complicated, is currently the subject of discussions with the Ministry of Labor, Employment and Integration, to which these exemptions relate more directly. Of course, we want harmonization between the oyster farming basins. “As for dematerialization, Julien Denormandie specifies that” our role is obviously to simplify the formalities for exporting producers and this is why we are investing in new tools, but there are constraints that we do not control, those set by the importing countries. “
