National Book Trust (NBI) in collaboration with the Department of Language, Art and Culture, Himachal Pradesh is organizing Shimla Book Fair from June 25 to July 3 in the summer capital of the state. The nine-day fair will be held at the Padam Dev Complex and the historic Gaiety Theatre, The Mall, which is located right in the heart of Shimla. This fair is no less than a treat for bibliophiles.
State Education Minister Govind Singh Thakur will inaugurate the fair, in which a total of 43 publishers from across the country will set up 63 stalls, which will be full of books.
During the inauguration, Education Minister will be accompanied by Language-Culture Minister KR Bharti, Rakesh Kanwar, Secretary, Department of Language Culture, Prof. Govind Prasad Sharma and Director of NBT, Yuvraj Malik.
Speaking about the fair, Mayank Surolia, Deputy Director, National Book Trust said that books in Hindi, English, Himachali, Punjabi and Urdu among other languages will be displayed and sold in this event. Keeping in mind the interest of readers of all age groups, books based on various subjects will be available in the fair.
Pankaj Lalit, Secretary, Language, Art and Culture, Government of Himachal Pradesh informed that under the National Education Policy 2020, a new series [email protected] along with bilingual books published by the Trust for Children will also be displayed at the fair. Organized under the Amrit Mahotsav of Independence, this exhibition acquaints us with the life and struggle of the freedom fighters of India.
