Odia actor Raimohan Parida dies at 58, suspected of suicide MPNRC

New Delhi: Popular Oriya actor and Jatra artist Raimohan Parida was found dead under mysterious circumstances on Friday. He was found hanging at his residence in Bhubaneshwar’s Prachi Vihar. Raimohan passed away at the age of 58. The reason for the suicide is still unknown. Actor Siddhant Mohapatra, who has starred with the former in several films, expressed grief over the news of Raimohan’s death.

According to odishatv.inRaimohan’s neighbour, said, “We met him yesterday and he seemed quite normal. We cannot believe that Raimohan, who is dear to all, is no more.”

Born on 10 July 1963, Raimohan Parida was known for playing negative roles in films. He has acted in over 100 Oriya and Bengali films. His notable work includes films such as Singha Vahini (1998), Suna Bhauja (1994) and Mental (2014). He has received several awards including the Abhinandia Award for his work in cinema and jatra. Parida is also the recipient of Odisha State Film Award.

Apart from Odia films and TV serials, Raimohan was one of the top Jatra actors of Odisha. He was a famous villain in the world of Oriya Jatra. While many of his jatras are very popular, he is best known for his dialogue ‘Hey Anani’ (Swearing with the name of the mother).
