Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday linked Congress leaders’ black-clad agitation over inflation and unemployment to the party’s “appeasement” politics, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his opposition to the foundation-laying of the Ram temple on this day in 2020. Talking to reporters, Shah said that the Congress leaders in their usual clothes all witnessed the protest but they especially chose black clothes for Friday’s protest as Modi peacefully resolved a 550-year-old dispute involving the faith of crores of people. He mentioned that the construction of the temple is currently in full swing.
Shah claimed that the Congress is showing its opposition to the construction of the temple and that the ED action and inflation issues are just an excuse. He alleged that since the Congress could not openly voice its opposition to the temple, it has tried to send a hidden message. Despite being in power for most of the post-independence period, the Congress did nothing to resolve the dispute while Modi resolved it peacefully, the home minister said.
Dressed in black, Congress leaders took to the streets against inflation and unemployment, many of them, including Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, were detained by the police for about six hours.
