Now milk will be provided to the children of classes 1 to 8 in government schools of Rajasthan two days a week. According to an official statement, the government is hopeful that this initiative will increase the nutritional level of children, their enrollment and attendance in government schools. Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot had announced in the budget that under the ‘Mukhyamantri Bal Gopal Yojana’, children of classes 1 to 8 will now get milk twice a week. It will be implemented in government schools, madrasas and special training centers associated with the mid-day meal scheme.
Additional Chief Secretary (Education) Pawan Kumar Goel said that under the scheme, about 69.21 lakh children studying in government schools will be provided milk prepared from milk powder on Tuesday and Friday. If these days are a holiday, then milk will be made available on the next academic day. Children of classes 1 to 5 will get 150 ml milk and children of classes 6 to 8 will get 200 ml of milk. Goyal informed that powdered milk will be purchased from Rajasthan Cooperative Dairy Federation.
