Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Umar Ata Bandiyal has taken notice of “alleged interference” from the government in the accountability process. A five-member bench headed by CJP will hear the issue today.

The apex court’s statement did not mention any specific instance of transfer or posting or other forms of ‘alleged interference’. However, Sama TV’s Islamabad bureau chief Khalid Azeem said there has been a wave of transfers in the Punjab prosecution recently and the judiciary may have seen it as an “interference”.


Secretary of State Bilawal Bhutto Zardari met US Secretary of State Antony Blinken in New York on Wednesday and the two reaffirmed their desire for a strong and prosperous bilateral relationship, according to US State Department spokesman Ned Price.


Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that despite differences among political opponents, the coalition government has come together in the larger national interest to bring Pakistan out of many crises, including extremism and terrorism, and threats to democracy and the economy.

In an interview with CNN’s Amanpour on Wednesday, the external affairs minister said all political parties have come together to pursue electoral and democratic reforms.


Pakistan Muslim League-N will hold a rally in Sargodha today. Punjab Chief Minister Hamza Shahbaz will address the press conference on the constitutional crisis in the state.


Karachi Administrator Murtaza Wahab, AIG CTD Imran Yakub Minhas and DIG CTD Khurram Ali will hold a press conference in Karachi.
