The great duo of lyricist Kannadasan and singer MS Viswanathan left a legacy that no one can match till date. He worked on many melodious songs which will be remembered by the audience forever. Interestingly, June 24 is the birth anniversary of both Kannadasan and Viswanathan. It is a beautiful coincidence that both the creative geniuses share their birthday.

Kannadasan was a lyricist, while Viswanathan provided vocals for the songs. Viswanathan has also composed music for various evergreen songs. Kannadasan and Viswanathan composed songs for films starring MG Ramachandran, Sivaji Ganesan, Gemini Ganesan and many more. His songs struck a chord with audiences during the 60s and 80s.

Viswanathan composed the music for Adhisaya Raagam. Its lyrics were written by Kannadasan. Apoorva Raagangal was released on 15 August 1975. As per the reports, there is an interesting story behind Adhisaya Ragam. It was Mangalampally Balamuralikrishna, who advised Viswanathan to use the Mahathi raga in the song. The Mahathi raga has only four swaras – Sa Ga Pa Ni. Even after 46 years of release, Adhisaya Raagam’s captivating composition can leave the audience mesmerized.

Here is another song Aaru Manme Aaru from the movie Andavan Kattlai. TM Sundararajan lent his voice for this song. Viswanathan composed the music for this film along with TK Ramamurthy. Andavan Kattlai is directed by K. Shankar did it.

Sivaji Ganesan, SA Ashokan, K Balaji and others were a part of this film. The song was a stellar success. Users are especially liking this song because of the hand gestures and body movement shown by Nadigar Thilagam. The Tamil surname of Sivaji Ganesan is Nadigar Thilagam. Viswanathan and Ramamurthy began composing music together in 1952. They separated and started producing music separately in 1965. He composed music for a total of 13 films.

Apart from these songs, Kannadasan and Viswanathan teamed up for several hit chartbusters.
