The Mission Olympic Cell (MOC) of the Sports Ministry on Wednesday approved a 35-day training camp for Tokyo Olympic bronze medalist Bajrang Punia in the United States ahead of the Commonwealth Games.
The Target Olympic Podium Scheme (TOPS) will finance the daily costs of Bajrang’s travel, boarding and training camp in Michigan, USA from June 25 to July 30. TOPS will also take care of the expenses of his personal coach and physiotherapist.
The training stint in the United States will help Bajrang prepare for the upcoming Birmingham Games and the World Championships.
The MOC also approved financial assistance for the purchase of two T20 ProTeam Look TT track bikes for TOPS development cyclists Ronaldo Singh and David Beckham.
T20 bikes are the new top-of-the-range track bikes that were also used by the French national team at the Tokyo Olympics.
“The bike is said to be lighter, tighter and more aerodynamically efficient than its predecessors. The mentioned bike will also help in preparing the athletes for the upcoming Commonwealth Games this year,” read the statement.

MoC also approved financial assistance to shooter Anish Bhanwala for overseas training and competition for 20 days at Shooting Sport Centre, Suhl in Germany.
