Shanan Dhaka: 19-year-old topper in NDA entrance exam MPNRC

New Delhi: 19-year-old Shanan Dhaka, a resident of Sundana village in Rohtak, has topped the women’s entrance exam of the National Defense Academy (NDA), Pune. This will be the first women batch of NDA.

She was ranked 10th in the overall ranking in the NDA entrance exam result declared on June 14.

According to Indian ExpressThere will be 19 women cadets in the NDA course: 10 for the Army, 6 for the Air Force and 3 for the Navy. The academy has said the three-year curriculum will be “gender-neutral”.

According to Indian Express, 19-year-old Shanan has studied in Army Public Schools in Roorkee, Jaipur and Chandimandir (Panchkula). She had enrolled in an undergraduate program at Delhi’s Lady Shri Ram College for Women last year. She “wanted to apply immediately” upon hearing about the opportunity for women in the NDA.

Dhaka, who currently lives in Zirakpur, Punjab, tells that she studied for five hours a day for 40 days and made it a point to solve previous years’ papers.

“Growing up in the cantonment areas, I saw the army officers being respected. Also everyone’s faith in the army men really motivates me to join the service. This is an opportunity to serve the nation with unparalleled pride and honour,” he added, Indian Express,

Dhaka also said that it took inspiration from the life of late President APJ Abdul Kalam. “He started his career from the ground up and rose to prominence through his skill, perseverance and honesty.” “Despite becoming the country’s president, he remained grounded.”

The report said that for the Services Selection Board, Colonel Ashokan was mentored by Colonel Ashokan, a veteran of his Olive Greens Institute, for two weeks.
