Mumbai: Maharashtra on Wednesday reported 3,260 new COVID-19 cases, including 1,648 and three deaths in Mumbai, taking the tally to 79,45,022 and the death toll to 1,47,892, the state health department said. The state recorded 399 fewer cases compared to 3,659 infections recorded a day earlier. Of the three fresh COVID-19 fatalities, two had come from Mumbai and one from Raigad.
Six new cases with BA.5 sub-variant were also detected in the state, including five from Pune and one from Nagpur, taking the total number of BA.4 and BA.5 cases to 25, including one in Pune. 15, contains five. In Mumbai, three in Nagpur and two in Thane.
“Out of these six cases, five are female while one was a male patient. The age of three is between 20 and 35 years, while the age of the remaining three is above 50 years.
These patients were found to be corona positive between 6 and 12 June and except one patient, all others were vaccinated. All of them got cured in home isolation.
At present, Maharashtra has 24,639 active cases, with Mumbai having the highest number of 13,501 cases in the state, followed by Thane district with 5,621 patients.
It said that with the discharge of 3,533 patients, the number of cured in Maharashtra has increased to 77,72,491.
Maharashtra’s case recovery rate is 97.83 percent. The mortality rate is 1.86 percent.
Of the 3,260 new COVID-19 cases, maximum 2,666 are from Mumbai circle, which includes the entire Mumbai Metropolitan Region, followed by Pune (430), Nashik (51), Nagpur (40), Akola (20). and Kolhapur (20). ), Aurangabad (17) and Latur (16).
With 26,457 new coronavirus tests conducted in the last 24 hours, the number of samples tested so far in the state increased to 8,16,91,771, the report said, adding that the positivity rate stands at 12.32 per cent.
