Ravi Kumar Dahiya continued his dominance on the wrestling mat as he defeated Nigeria’s Ebikewenimo Wellson in the 57kg final at the 2022 Commonwealth Games to win gold.
After winning the silver medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, Dahiya has become a household name in India and all the wrestling fans in the country had high expectations from him in Birmingham.
The 27-year-old was too good for her opponents at the Commonwealth Games as none of them could give her any serious trouble. He defeated the Nigerian wrestler 10-0 on technical superiority in the final bout.

He opened the campaign against New Zealand’s Suraj Singh and reached the quarterfinals by beating him 10–0 on technical superiority.
He faced Pakistan’s Ali Asad in the semi-finals but had no trouble making it to the finals. India’s star wrestler defeated Asad 14-4 with technical superiority to prove his dominance.
Ravi came into the limelight after his bronze medal at the World Championships in Nur Sultan in 2019 and has not stopped since then as the native of Nahri district has won gold medals in three editions of the Asian Championships in 2020, 2021 and 2022 to add to his growing medal collection. The Commonwealth gold medalist has now added more weight to his famous wrestling iteration.
Ravi was among the 14 wrestlers sent to Bulgaria for a special training camp to prepare for the CWG and Asian Games. It worked out well for Dahiya as he topped the podium in both events.
