Duranga – Two Shades of Lie brings forth a unique love story where Samit Patel (played by Gulshan Devaiah) is seen as the ideal man, father and husband. However, is this guy too good to be true? Meanwhile, Sammeet’s inspector wife, Ira (played by Drishti Dhami), begins investigating a series of gory copycat murders by a suspected accomplice of psychopathic serial killer Bala, twenty years after her suicide. The affair leads Ira to make shocking revelations about her husband’s past and threatens to destroy her seemingly perfect family. Duranga mainly deals with how well you know your partner and how strong your relationship is with a hidden, estranged past?

Drishti Dhami said, “I am a huge fan of Korean dramas, so when I was approached to be a part of the first adaptation of a Korean series for the Indian market, I couldn’t contain my excitement! What attracted me to Duranga was its intriguing script which is full of all the ingredients that make a great story – an unconventional love story and a hidden, twisted path from a seemingly perfect family and the unraveling of a series of crimes, Duranga. That’s all! Also, this is my first time playing a police officer, so it was a dream role with a dream cast and crew.”

Gulshan Devaiya said, “What the eye meets is not visible or is it? That’s Summit in a sentence, but I think humans are far more complex and gray than one sentence can explain, and Summit is delightfully complex and all kinds of gray. He loves his family deeply but has a past that, if revealed, might drive them away from him, so he must do whatever it takes to keep his family together. It was a lot of fun and a bit of a challenge for me to seamlessly play the two sides of Summit, one you see and one you don’t.”

Director Pradeep Sarkar said, “When I heard the story, I loved the plot. In Sammeet’s dual role, Gulshan Devya dazzled while on the other hand Drishti Dhami was really good as the housewife/super cop. The more you get into the story, the more it lights up the characters in different shades and every twist and turn is new. It puts you on edge and you never know how the episodes will go! I tried to keep the element of surprise while working with the camera with DOP Quais. The shades of the story are also set by the camera. After Mardaani, I again got a chance to work in a suspense thriller. I got full support from Goldie to tell the story. I am sure the audience will connect with this sophisticated watch.”

Director Eijaz Khan, who co-directed the show, said, “The moment I was asked to do Flower of Evil, I jumped at it. It’s very different from what I’ve done in the past and that’s what attracted me. Duranga is our interpretation of the show.”

Duranga will premiere on 19 August 2022 exclusively on ZEE5.
