There’s no denying the fact that being a pet parent is one of the best feelings in the world. But along with that, it is also a harsh truth that they can be a bit difficult to take care of, especially training them in their early days. Now, proper training and behavior methods are of great importance in increasing a dog’s mental fitness. And pet parents have a responsibility to think carefully about it. Sharing some tricks to help pet parents train their dog, Adnan Khan, a part-time behavior consultant, revealed in a media interview that he has often met owners who blamed their furry friend for everything.

Dispelling this common misconception, Adnan said, “Actually, most dogs have very little wrong with them; But it is the owners whose actions and character directly reflect on their pets. Adnan added that it’s the “knowledge and dedication” of pet parents that can help provide “the most structured and happy lives for their dogs.” Pet parents also have the option of working with a trainer or behaviorist, but owners should be closely involved in the lives of their furry friends as they spend time with their dog. Another reason for this is that trainers can teach the dog new tricks, but parents need to regularly practice and enforce these commands on their dogs.

Canine behaviorist and training expert, Mithali Salvi, explains some ways to train your dog, and ignoring an activity you don’t want him to do is top of the list. Mithali explains that if your dog is behaving in a certain way that you want to change, for example asking for bits of food from the table, ignore it. Don’t even say ‘no’. Do not interact with the dog while eating. Be consistent and after a point, your dog will learn that this behavior doesn’t help him and will eventually stop.

Additionally, puppies are generally energetic and friendly. But if your puppy seems to be domineering or stubborn, you need to make sure that his energy is being used in some form. Experts advise them to engage in physical and mental exercises. And when the energy is directed to some activity, your puppy will eventually calm down. She added that your pet should learn to be alone for a while without depending on you. And this crate training will help your dog find a place to himself where he can enjoy his alone time. But remember not to force your puppy into the crate. Instead, try to make the crate a desirable place for him.
