A man was arrested and another arrested for allegedly assaulting a head constable at a police station in east Delhi, police said on Saturday. The arrested accused has been identified as Satish Kumar (29) of Karkarduma village.
Police said they received information that a woman was assaulted and her gold chain broken at Karkarduma village on July 30 at 11.27 pm. An argument took place between two persons, Anchal Bakshi and Ajay, both residents of Karkarduma village. Ajay, who was found intoxicated, was arrested from the spot and brought to the police station for further investigation, said a senior police officer. Ajay’s brother Satish Chaudhary and others then came to the police station and tried to provoke the police personnel on duty, said Deputy Commissioner of Police (City) R Sathiyasundaram.

Meanwhile, Head Constable Prakash came to the police station. He was surrounded, abused and beaten up by these people, the police said. Some of them recorded a video of the incident and later circulated it among themselves, he said.
In a video that has gone viral on social media, some men are seen beating up the head constable while others are recording the incident. The injured policeman was immediately medically examined. A case was registered on his complaint and two persons were arrested in connection with the incident, the DCP said.
Later one of them was arrested. Police said that the role of another person is being investigated. He said that efforts are on to identify others involved in the incident and arrest them.
